Ingredients

Basbosa

2 cups Semolina

2 tablespoons baking powder

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup sugar

1 cup melted butter or oil

2 cups powdered milk

¼ cup water

1/2 cup almonds (for decoration)

Sugar Syrup

2 cups sugar

1 cup water

drops of lemon juice

Small heat proof pan

Large bowl

11 inch round baking dish, brushed with melted butter or oil

How To

Preheat the oven to 370 degrees Fahrenheit/186 Celsius.

Basbosa

In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients until they’re well combined.

Spread the basbosa batter onto the oiled baking dish.

Slice the basbosa into triangular shaped slices. Place an almond on each slice.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is browned and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out dry.

As the basbosa is baking, make the sugar syrup.

Sugar syrup

In a small heatproof pot, boil the water and sugar. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes. Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice and let it simmer for another 30 seconds to a minute.

Remove from the stove top and set aside until the basbosa is ready. 

Assembly

When you remove the basbosa from the oven, immediately pour the sugar syrup over the basbosa. Let it soak.
